Jean Lachowicz, Ph.D.
With a perspective gained from conducting biomedical research in academia, government, and industry, Jean Lachowicz has led drug discovery and early development efforts for neurological disorders, oncology, autoimmune disease, metabolic disease, and rare disease. At Schering Plough Research Institute, she led numerous drug discovery teams from target validation and hit generation to human proof-of-concept trials, and was involved in generating fifteen development candidates, of which two have been approved. At Merck Research Laboratories, Jean directed the in vitro pharmacology department for the Rahway site, and was responsible for generation of biologic reagents, assay development and operations, cell and protein mechanistic studies, and lead optimization. As Chief Scientific Officer of Angiochem, Jean led all drug discovery research as well as communications, scientific strategy, and research alliances. Most recently, Jean was Head of Global Project Leadership for Celgene Research and Early Development, leading teams through IND enabling, regulatory strategy, and initial clinical evaluation. Jean studied at Brown (Sc.B., Chemistry), Duke (Ph.D., Pharmacology), and NIH (post-doc, NINDS) and has published over 70 scientific articles.
