Gina Maria Johns
Gina Johns has 20+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working across all segments of drug discovery and development. Gina started her career in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Merck Research Laboratories where she supported chemistry efforts in infectious and metabolic diseases. She gradually moved into positions of support for all operational, process improvement and change initiatives within Chemistry and provided support across the Merck research network. Over the past decade at Merck, she provided operations and project management support from target validation through early and late development including drug approval. In her role as the Site Operations lead, Gina managed the Discovery Cardiovascular and Diabetes/Endocrinology portfolios for Merck Research Laboratories, as well as the Lead Strategy Team for all of Discovery and Preclinical Sciences. Gina has spearheaded several company-wide process improvement initiatives, simplifying and improving data integrity and archiving of deprioritized portfolio programs and has received several awards for her work on key transformational initiatives including the deployment of company-wide solutions in finance, chemical inventory and laboratory operations. She has also been involved in strategic planning and change management and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt.
Most recently, Gina was the project manager for several high profile projects in late and early clinical development, including management of the compound registration approval and Advisory Committee preparation for the Grastek™ and Ragwitek™ allergy immunotherapy products. Gina currently provides project management and process improvement expertise to clients in all areas of drug discovery and development, focusing on collaborative execution, communication and scientific/operational management.
